Overview & Purpose
Welcome to the CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program. On behalf of our preceptors and department of pharmacy, thank you for your interest in our program. The mission of CHRISTUS Health is “to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.” The pharmacy department supports this mission by providing high quality comprehensive pharmaceutical care. The purpose of our residency program is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. We look for candidates who are self-motivated, eager to learn, and dedicated to providing the best care to our patients.
About the Program
Shoreline’s residency program exists to develop clinical pharmacists who can provide comprehensive care to a wide range of patients with a wide range of conditions. Our preceptors have a wealth of knowledge and skills to empower our residents to achieve their highest potential.

Program Information
Residency qualifications include:
- A Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy
- United States Citizen
- Pharmacist licensure in the state of Texas within 90 days of residency start date
- Participation in PhORCAS and the National Resident Matching Program
Application Process
Applicants are required to submit the following documents via PhORCAS by January 1, 2023:
- Curriculum vitae
- Official pharmacy transcript
- Letter of intent
- Three letters of recommendation
Applicants are selected for interviews and ranked for placement based on individual assessment against standardized criteria. Interviews occur in January and February. Applicants are placed in the residency program using the National Resident Matching Program.

Pharmacy residents work closely with medical residents from the CHRISTUS Health-Texas A&M Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine residency programs based at CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline.
CHRISTUS Spohn Health System precepts P2 and P4 students from Texas A&M College of Pharmacy. Residents will have the opportunity to precept these students during the second half of their residency year.
Residents have the opportunity to complete a teaching certificate through the Texas A&M College of Pharmacy.
Each resident is required to staff in the central pharmacy one weeknight and every 4th weekend, as well as two holidays.

In my free time I love to take my black lab to the many beaches and parks Corpus Christi has to offer! “I chose CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline because the program offers rotations in my biggest areas of interest (critical care and ambulatory care) and they offer a wide variety of elective rotations including trauma. I knew I wanted to practice at a large academic center to further develop my clinical knowledge and have plenty of collaboration with different healthcare professionals and CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline allows me to do that!” |
