Pediatric Trauma Care
When a child suffers from a serious injury or illness, it's essential that you take your child to a trusted trauma center. CHRISTUS Health has Level II, III and IV Pediatric Trauma Care Centers filled with experienced pediatric specialists in emergency medicine, trauma surgery, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgical and plastic surgery and anesthesia.
Trauma Injuries We Treat
The trauma team consists of pediatric specialists in emergency medicine, trauma surgery, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgical and plastic surgery as well as anesthesia. These specialists are on hand to treat critical injuries resultant to treat critical injuries from a wide range of accidents, such as but not limited to:
- Traumatic mechanism of injury and GCS 9-14
- Suspected abdominal injury (Pain, seat belt sign, bruising)
- Extremity penetrating wound
- Fall greater than 10 feet or 3 x’s the patient’s height
- Femur fracture with MPC/MVC
- Skull fracture with and without intracranial injury
- Suspected pelvis fracture
- Motor vehicle accidents
- Roll-over of any vehicle
- Motor vehicle vs pedestrian
- Suspected non-accidental trauma in patients
- Burns on less than 10% of the patient's body
