What is Considered a High-Risk Pregnancy?
A pregnancy may be deemed high risk if the mother displays any of the following:
- Adolescent or advanced maternal age
- Asthma or other pulmonary difficulties
- Autoimmune deficiencies
- Blood clotting issues
- Cancer
- Previous heart conditions
- Diabetes (any type)
- Epilepsy or other seizures
- Expecting multiple babies
- Hypertension/High blood pressure
- Kidney Disease
- Thyroid problems
- Had previous C-section(s) and wants to deliver vaginally
Your pregnancy may also be considered high risk if your baby is diagnosed with an illness or disorder during your pregnancy. Your doctor will advise you if your pregnancy is at risk.
